4-7 Breathing to Balance the Nervous System

This exercise will bring balance to your nervous system. It is best to practice it every hour and more if necessary. A helpful hint is to set your phone alarm to remind yourself. It is also important to perform this exercise upon arising and right before going to bed.

Breathe in through your nose for a count of 4 and slowly breathe out through pursed lips for a count of 7. It is helpful to imagine gently blowing out a candle. Do this for at least 3 rounds.

This breathing technique is a very useful tool, great for anxiety, stress, and tension. It can be used to help with sleep or even to deal with food cravings.
